Maria Sperber Director at Large

Maria Sperber is currently the Vice President, Government Affairs for the California Resources Corporation (CRC). California Resources Corporation is an independent oil and natural gas company committed to energy transition in the sector. CRC has some of the lowest carbon intensity production in the US and is focused on maximizing the value of our land, mineral and technical resources for decarbonization by developing carbon capture and storage (CCS) and other emissions reducing projects. Ms. Sperber represents the

interests of CRC before members of the California Legislature, state regulators and the Administration on key issues pertaining to the oil and gas industry and California’s climate goals.

Prior to joining CRC, Ms. Sperber represented the interests of the California Hospital Association member hospitals before lawmakers and their staff in the California Legislature. Her main areas of advocacy included women’s and children’s health, consent, scope of practice, licensing, pharmacy, and emergency services.

Ms. Sperber also served as the executive director of the American Academy of Pediatrics, California Chapter 1. Maria also worked as a government affairs specialist for Molina Healthcare and was a capitol staffer for many years.

Additionally, Ms. Sperber served as a board member and past president of the Friends of the Crisis Nurseries, an auxiliary of the Sacramento Children's Home. The Crisis Nursery Program provides emergency care for children, newborn to age five, in times of crisis. The Friends is dedicated to the financial viability, and community awareness of, the Crisis Nursery Program in Sacramento County.

Maria has a bachelor’s degree from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and a JD from McGeorge School of Law.
