Erin Lane Director at Large
Erin Lane serves as Vice President of Public Affairs at Plug Power after previously serving as the Director of Government Relations and as a consultant for several years. In her current role, Erin is responsible for providing strategic insight into company relations with government and industry actors and deploying resources to advocate for Plug Power’s priorities.
Prior to her return to Plug Power in 2021, Erin was a Principal with Cascade Associates, where she advocated for clean energy technologies and energy efficiency for over twenty years. Throughout her career, she has amassed a notable and comprehensive track record of advancing energy-related legislation, tax incentives, including the Fuel Cell Investment Tax Credit, and increasing federal funding for her clients such as Plug Power.
Erin began her professional career working on Capitol Hill in the Office of Representative Jack Quinn (R-NY). She managed the Congressman’s energy and environment portfolio, and developed a deep understanding of electricity generation markets, energy efficiency, and the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program. Her portfolio also included appropriations, taxes, telecommunications, and advising the Congressman on any issues related to his seat on the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. These responsibilities allowed her to develop close working relationships with agencies like the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
She has held several leadership positions and is currently both the President of the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Seminar Board of Directors and the Chair of the Tax Working Group at the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Energy Association (FCHEA). Erin was also Chairperson of the House Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Caucus Relations Committee for the Sustainable Energy Coalition, as well as a founding member of the Coalition for Clean Energy, Jobs, and Innovation.
Erin received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Muskingum University and attended American University's Washington Semester program. Erin currently resides in Silver Spring, Maryland, with her husband Aaron and daughters Scarlett and Grace.
