Cory Shumaker, MBA is a hydrogen industry veteran with over 16 years of experience driving innovation, strategic partnerships, and market development across the hydrogen and fuel cell ecosystem. He currently serves as Director of Market Development for the California Hydrogen Business Council, where for over a decade he has led Sector Action Groups, advanced legislative advocacy, and supported funding initiatives to accelerate industry growth. Cory’s consulting portfolio includes global hydrogen projects, market strategy development, and grant acquisition for cutting-edge technologies.

Cory additionally serves as Director of Hydrogen Business Development at Utility, where he leads initiatives to expand hydrogen infrastructure and mobility solutions. Previously, as Head of Business Development & Hydrogen Solutions at Hyzon, Cory negotiated multi-million dollar contracts for heavy-duty fuel cell vehicles and built partnerships to enable hydrogen refueling networks.

His career began at Vision Industries Corporation, where he helped engineer the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell Class 8 truck, tested at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. Cory holds an MBA from Loyola Marymount University and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach. Cory is a passionate advocate for hydrogen’s role in a sustainable future.
