California Hydrogen Business Council Hires New Management
Council adds experienced team to grow the hydrogen energy industry in California

Washington D.C./Los Angeles, CA – 01/23/2012 – Today, the California Hydrogen Business Council (CHBC) announced far-reaching changes to its management structure by hiring Technology Transition Corporation (TTC), the management company of the Hydrogen Education Foundation and the former National Hydrogen Association. Jeffrey Serfass, TTC President, was named CHBC Managing Director.

“TTC has deep hydrogen energy and fuel cell experience, an excellent industry network and a great reputation. We are thrilled to have them help us grow the markets, develop the infrastructure, and create new “clean” jobs in California. They have put together a tremendous team to carry us through the next phase of our growth as an industry and as an organization”, stated Mark Abramowitz, President of the CHBC.

California is currently leading the development and deployment of hydrogen energy and fuel cell technologies in the U.S. The state will be the focus of the rollout of zero-emission hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles from several major auto manufacturers in the 2015-17 timeframe. “We are witnessing a pivotal moment when the industry transitions into early markets,” Serfass added. “It is an exciting time for everyone involved.”

In their first move as the new management, TTC hired James J. Provenzano for the position of Senior Consultant to the CHBC. James has been actively promoting hydrogen-energy technologies as the longtime President of Clean Air Now, a 43 year-old California non-profit corporation committed to protecting the public’s health from air pollution.

“James is a knowledgeable and effective advocate for hydrogen,” Mark expressed. “His deep knowledge and skills will position us even better in serving the industry in California.”

Completing the new team will be graduate students from the Advanced Power and Energy Program at the University of California, Irvine, led by Dr. Shane Stephens-Romero, Manager of Research Development & External Relations for APEP. Shane adds to the Council a deep understanding of technology and policy developments as they relate to alternative fuels and advanced power generation.

“California is the leader of adopting advanced clean-energy technologies, the jobs motor of the 21st century. At the CHBC, we are determined to expand the hydrogen-energy industry because in California, hydrogen means business,” Mark Abramowitz concluded.
