Paul Scott, D.Sc Named President of CHBC Board

Paul Scott, D.Sc., has been named president of the California Hydrogen Business Council’s (CHBC) 2009-2010 Board of Directors effective January 1, 2009, announced Catherine Rips, managing director. Also announced are four new members to the CHBC board, as well as new officers. Joining the board are former CalEPA Secretary Terry Tamminen; National Hydrogen Association Executive Vice President Debbi Smith; Burbank Transportation Management Organization Executive Director JJ Weston; and clean fuels consultant Richard Cromwell III. Other officers for the 2009-10 terms are Mark Abramowitz, vice president; Josh Mauzey, treasurer; and JJ Weston, secretary.

“I know I’m leaving the organization in excellent hands,” noted President Emeritus Henry W. “Hank” Wedaa, one of the co-founders of CHBC. “Paul is a noted scientist who has tremendous enthusiasm for hydrogen and fuel cell technologies. I’m certain he will carry on the work we began and continue to strengthen the organization.” Wedaa will remain an active member of the board.

Formerly vice president of the Business Council, Dr. Scott is chief scientific officer at ISE Corp., Poway, CA, where he has played key roles in the development of a series of innovative hydrogen projects.

“This might be the most important time in the history of our country for energy policy,” said Dr. Scott. “I look forward to the many challenges and opportunities ahead.”

The California Hydrogen Business Council is comprised of organizations and individuals involved in the business of hydrogen. Its mission is to advance the commercialization of hydrogen in transportation and stationary sources to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reduce dependence on foreign oil.
