Headquartered in Thousand Palms, CA, SunLine Transit is a leader in renewable energy zero emission buses and operates one of the largest fleets of hydrogen fuel cell buses in the nation.  SunLine was also the first transit agency to own and operate a hydrogen generation and dispensing station, which operates 24 hours a day and is open to the public. It is the only hydrogen fueling station in the Coachella Valley, where SunLine Transit carries nearly 5 million passengers per year in a 1,120 mile service area.

Hydrogen fuel cell technology has come a long way from the early days – this working technology delivers exciting opportunities today. Proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs) are being developed and sold commercially for multiple near term markets. Ballard Power Systems FCveloCity® power modules are optimized for the hybrid platform and offers proven experience in an expanding market. Ballard has accumulated significant operational, reliability, and durability data through laboratory, field trial, and commercial use of various products.
